ADULT & PAEDIATRIC (BASIC, Intermediate & Advanced) EMERGENCY LIFE SUPPORT COURSES for beginners and professionals

INTRODUCTION
Alpha Medical has built up an excellent reputation for delivering very high quality courses - and our Adult & Paediatric Emergency Life Support Course is still one of the most popular courses that we run. The Course was originally designed, and is still used for, teaching the general public - and it has also been adapted for professionals (e.g. doctors, nurses, dentists and police officers etc) and also other organisations and businesses - for instance, the Guide Association and Boots the Chemist.

Alpha Medical is approved by the Health and Safety Executive to teach and assess First Aid at Work courses and is trusted by the British Heart Foundation to deliver Heartstart courses. In the latter capacity Alpha Medical has also been involved with the B.B.C. T.V. Lifesaver Roadshow. Our instructors are experienced healthcare professionals - who are also trained teachers and assessors. You are, therefore, guaranteed to benefit from high quality instruction and assessment - and you will appreciate our very low fee!

TEACHING METHODS
It is generally accepted that "learners learn best by doing" and, if a practical skill is to be learnt properly and remembered, there is no substitute for practice. Alpha Medical First Aid at Work courses are student-centred, with the emphasis on 'hands-on' training, so every student benefits from maximum practical experience - e.g. when practising cardiopulmonary resuscitation every student has his or her own manikin.

TheAlpha Medical Adult & Paediatric Emergency Life Support course uses a wide range of teaching and learning methods - including illustrated talk; demonstration; practical activities (individual, pair and group work); audio-visual; role play; quiz; game; written assessments; discussion; brainstorm; question and answer sessions; and reinforcement etc. In addition, comprehensive handouts are provided.

ASSESSMENT METHODS
In order to receive an Adult & Paediatric Emergency Life Support certificate all participants need to demonstrate a number of practical skills - i.e. the instructor checks the participants' competence, with regard to each skill, as the course progresses. The atmosphere is always relaxed and informal and a high percentage of participants return to undertake additional courses - e.g. First Aid at Work courses.

DURATION
The Alpha Medical Adult & Paediatric Emergency Life Support course normally takes FOUR HOURS. However, Alpha Medical is happy to discuss your requirements. We have, for instance, delivered a simple Emergency Aid course in three hours.

COURSE FEE
Our standard fee covers the cost of the instructor (and his or her assistant), a nationally recognised Emergency Life Support Certificate, the use of all learning aids (e.g. manikins), all disposable items, refreshments, course notes, handouts - and other items. Please note that discounts are available for PAIR and/or GROUP bookings etc - and (with prior notice) ALL participants are welcome to return (to practice their skills) as often as they wish - for up to a year - FREE OF CHARGE!
